We have now modified Majestic’s website so that even free users can see the “Top 10” of everything for any website, to give a much better “feeling” of what you get with the paid version of Majestic.

  • In Majestic Site Explorer, once logged in to a free account, users will see:
  • The details of the top 10 links to any site
  • The Newest 10 links found every day
  • Up to ten links Lost every day
  • The link counts and Flow Metrics to the top 10 pages on any site

We hope that our free users appreciate the new data – and also hope that one or two are convinced enough to join us with a paid subscription. Because this is quite a lot of data to give away for free, we have initiated a fair usage policy on the site, so that you can only look at this data a few times a day for free, but if you sign up for a paid account those limits are raised of course.

Does this mean I lose my own site data?

You can still see your own site’s data in full, both in Site Explorer and in Advanced and Standard reports through verifying your site.

This is very useful for users who are not subscribers, so that they will be motivated to test all functions of Majesticseo.com

I am very far from being happy with those changes – before I was able to check few sites a day when I was registered with free account – now after looking in the limited view like 10 sites I get:

We limit the daily usage for free customers – and your daily limit has now been reached. We rely on paid subscriptions to continue to develop our infrastructure. Register for a paid account to be able to freely use Site Explorer within fair usage limits all day, every day. There are no ling term contracts – just a simple monthly fee.

So I guess it’s time to turn to ahrefs.

      Hi Mark,

Ahrefs also blocks free users after a while, so there is no difference there. You can still get all your own data for free on Majestic SEO, but you now see actual links for any site. HOWEVER, we are limiting the amount of times a free user can use the site every day… as does our competition.

I have a market samurai subscription however the data seems to be different . Does MS only get a certain limit on links in their SEO competition tool?

      Hi Colin,
We generally cannot provide tech support for third party partners… but since they are such great partners I’ll do my best! 🙂

Market Samurai is (I believe) a fixed fee product, but of course, the ongoing crawling and compilation is not a one off cost, so Market Samurai has to make some choices when it pulls data from us to be able to handle the different business models. In short, I believe they pull the top links, not ALL the links to a site, from our API.

He? All links were available for free users one week aga. And now ONLY 10?

All links are STILL available for your own sites – exactly as before. You just need to verify the domains at https://www.majesticseo.com/webmaster-tools.

Now you can also see 10 links for ANY site.

But Majestic even gives up the ghost in viewing my OWN verified sites … I check a handful of metrics out and then, bang, I get the “Silver Package” ad flash up and can’t do anything else ..

        Hi Jay,
You can get an advanced report for your site and then download all you links. It is Site Explorer that will stop you going on and on.

That’s too bad. I only need your external backlink and referring domains value. So 30GBP is way too expensive

Revealing the 10 freshest links found each day is generous, and it’s not even my birthday 🙂

That’s OK If you can get it cheaper. We are already the lowest cost of entry of the major link crawlers. It costs a lot to crawl the web and you cannot “see” links to a website unless you crawl the whole Internet. Even Yahoo gave up in 2011.

So how many times does a free user get to use the site explorer before the fair use policy arises ?

Please email me when you answer that question so i know.

    Thanks

Our acceptable use policy is listed at https://www.majesticseo.com/support/terms#aup . In general we give you enough access to understand what a paid report would offer you, and we also give you you OWN site data for free. Beyond this, we do not make ANY service level promises for free accounts.
