MajesticSEO gives considerably higher back-link numbers than any other system out there today. That’s cool, but not all are relevant for any given task. To better understand which links might be affecting your SEO rankings, you need to first decide what kind of links YOU think count. Then you need to filter the data and force a new analysis of the data to find this list. It’s not hard… takes about a minute. Here’s what you do.

When you add a domain to your control panel, Majestic analyses every URL in the index. Now it would be helpful if the system let you filter out the rubbish from the start, but at the moment it takes an extra step.
- From your control panel, go to the summary page of the Domain Overview of the domain you want improved SEO intelligence on, then select “Options” in the top left block of menus.
Here you will find lots of ways to filter the data. In particular, you should see a section a bit like this:

Analyse only backlinks with the following flags set: |
Note: if you only want to take into account reputation passing hyperlinks then you need to exclude backlinks with the following flags set: NoFollow, Frame, Redirect, AltText, Mention and possibly Deleted (meaning those backlinks were not found on the same source page after it was recrawled).

By default, MajesticSEO has analysed EVERY backlink… even ones which were subsequently deleted and even mentions, where a person used your URL in the text but didn’t actually link to you.
I am not going to say categorically which links count for SEO and which don’t, but I currently use this section to EXCLUDE:
- Framed links
- Deleted
- Alt-text
- Mentions
Depending on how I feel and what I am looking for, I may also exclude nofollows and Redirects. Infact – at times I delete the whole darn lot!
Now check quickly that you don’t have anything else filled in on those options from a previous analysis, then press the button saying “Update and Force Analysis”.
Bingo! You have a much BETTER data set of backlinks for SEO purposes.

I am sure I will find it, but maybe have a link to the place from this sentence
“Note: You need to [ link here— add domains —– ] before you can see information on them. ” Just a suggestion. Look forward to trying out your service.

Again we fully note that our website has some UI issues. We can’t commit to a date for the next round of upgrades in this area, but it’s clear to me that every pound spent on improving the conversion rate and UI is probably worth several pounds of getting new people interested in Majestic.
Do you think people would help to write up how to get the most out of Majestic if we set up a WIKI?

Totally agree with Goran. You guys have a killer tool. I’m just a little lost on how to get the most out of it. So a wiki, more blogs, hell a Youtube channel on how to use the system would go a long ways to getting more people using the system.
Speaking from my own experience, I don’t use something until I fully understand it. I don’t have the patience/time in my day to figure somethings out.
