I don’t know if we are the first to do this, but you couldn’t do this previously with so much data. Today we’ve launched our bulk backlink checker tool. The tool is free. No login is required for the first five backlinks. The free account gives you more, and as you increase your subscription, your limit increases into being able to get hundreds of backlink counts at the same time.
The tool does not use our full database, so the total backlinks are a little below our total known on the larger sites, but should be pretty useful when compared to each other.
One advantage of not using the full dataset is speed. These results come back FAST!
Since Google’s public counts are worthless already and we have no idea how long Yahoo’s data will remain, we decided to release this tool free of charge so that SEOs don’t find themselves in limbo. We think it’s more useful than Site Explorer’s tool.
Other free SEO tools that we already have include:
Historical backlink checker (shows a graph of up to five site’s backlinks over time)
Bad Neighborhood Checker (Shows which sites are all coming from the same IP number)
Anchor Text and other data is free for your own sites, but you will need to be a subscriber to analyse the competitor anchor text. Register now for free!.

January 18, 2010 at 8:09 pmHi,
January 18, 2010 at 8:09 pmthe ACRank indication doesn’t work. 🙁
Hi Denis!
ACRank is only shown for URL types, but since it is currently based on a number of referring domains it actually makes sense to only pay attention to referring domains themselves. Some URLs that have too few referring domains won’t have ACRank at all (meaning it is set to 0).
January 18, 2010 at 8:41 pmLet’s hope your servers are ready when Yahoo calls it quits with Site Explorer.
January 19, 2010 at 12:44 amWe hope so too! Alex designed this with heavy use in mind, but if it crashes, he’ll be tearing his hair out whilst I’ll be quietly smiling.
January 19, 2010 at 9:17 amGreat, thanks for shaving this tool.
January 19, 2010 at 7:49 amHey Alex, our new bulk backlinks tool and it’s supporting hardware infrastructure were specifically designed to handle a LOT of queries, it’s already handling many millions per day 😉
January 19, 2010 at 4:37 pmGood stuff guys! I might just consider taking a pro account now 🙂
January 21, 2010 at 6:13 pmFantasic tool – thanks majestic – indeed some time ago i believe Yahoo! took into consideration the canonical version of domains – have you made sufficient movements to acount for the various urls which can be linked to? does your tool count canonical urls too?
Playing with it now to try and find out…
