Here’s what’s involved in running a conference (Courtesy of Jackie’s excellent fly on the wall docublog: 48 hours with Majestic SEO)

This week. Majestic SEO are in Chicago for two conferences. SES Chicago at the Hyatt Regency and a Big Data Innovation conference at the “W”. We have Mel Carson talking this morning on “beyond engagement, Harnessing the power of Social Media). I will also be presentaing some of the new functionality that Majestic has launched in 2012.

On Friday morning (frighteningly early, if you ask me) I will be at the “W”, talking about how links on the Internet can make unexpected predictions about the future.

Dixon.

Link acquisition rate is one of the most interesting factors that I have been studying and analyzing recently. Much like Google insights for search predicts market trends with particular keywords, increased link velocity is one of the most accurate ways to determine the current growth rate of a company.

I do much more than SEO consulting, much of my work extends to business/management consulting at the C-level of major companies. I’ve recently been using Majestic data to point out the outreach campaigns of competitors. Quantifying the successes of the marketing efforts of their competitors using links is quite powerful. (They continue to hire me as a consultant, as this style of competitor research is fairly revolutionary)
