We originally thought our data was best for seeing the anchor text on links between different domains, but since we launched, we’ve found plenty of other ways of using our data set. As our readers and users are top notch SEOs and Internet Marketers, we thought that you would be able to tap into our data and come up with more imaginative ways to use it. So we want you to share your thoughts and ideas with us and with the community and we are willing to give an iPad to the person that comes up with the best idea on how to use MajesticSEO.
You can either show us great new ways of using our data or simply provide insight and tips on how to get the most out of the data.
How to enter
You can write up your entry in a number of ways. If you have a blog then why not write it there and just tell us the link to your entry in the comments. We may not publish your comments/location until the entry deadline for fairness and please use a valid email address if you expect to win. If you don’t blog, you can just email us your idea to “newsletter” at majesticseo.com in 600 words or less and we will publish the best ones that make the short list.

Do you want some Ideas?
Since we launched MajesticSEO we have found many different uses of the data. For example:
- Using Majestic to find affiliate links
- Using Majestic in the SEOBook Toolbar
- Visualizing Backlink anchor text differently
But I feel there is so much more that we can give the world! You might choose to do a case study on a verticle, or augment the MajesticSEO data with some other data to create something new. All posts will be considered, including posts written previously if you would like to enter these.

Here are my ideas:
1. Using Majestic SEO to spy on Google Analytics, Adsense etc. IDs. For example, I would like to find all the domains which use the same ID. This ID can be an Adsense ID, or think about any other service which is web-based and gives you a uniqe indentifier you can use on different domains. There are a lot of analytics services besides Google analytics.
Also add the ability for the users to find custom patterns in the HTML code, using regular expressions.
2. Using Majestic SEO to find valuable expired or about-to-expire domain names. Of course our goal is find expiring domains with a lot of backlinks. You could query Godaddy, Pool, Snapnames, Namejet and Sedo, then analyze each expiring domains and sort them by value.
You can expand this further: find available Blogger blogs with backlinks, available Squidoo lenses with backlinks etc.
3. Find high PR blogs with dofollow comment links we can comment on. Also, find high PR forums where we can drop our links etc. Find high PR .edu sites where we can create backlinks to our site… Certain CMS and forum software have footprint, and you can use this. For example, you can easily find all the Drupal webstites, and Drupal typically allow the visitors to use dofollow links.
4. There are a lot of broken links on the web. And there are a lot of high PR sites on authority websites who are currently linking to broken domains/pages. How is it useful?
Let’s say I have a website about woodworking. And I find 10 high PR pages on 10 different authority domains, who link to a broken woodworking website. First I of course create a website about woodworking with GREAT content. Then I contact these authority websites who link to this broken woodworking page, and I ask them to replace their broken links with my own link! If my website is really quality, then they will link to me!
The challange is to find those broken links quickly. That is where Majestic comes into practice.

Allow users to assign a value to the external links coming to their site.
This could be monetary (i.e. if they’re paying every month for a link) or just points (i.e. if they want to track more intangible link value).
When they run a report it would highlight trouble areas where their assumed high value links are actually a low relative value, have dropped in value in the past month, are down, etc.
This could help people catch cases where links that are important to them and they may be spending money or resources to maintain are falling in value or not worth as much as they thought.

In my view Majestic SEO is a link analysis tool and keeps its own database of the web (like the major search engines). The idea of distributed computing is to use private computers (like yours) to work on the task and then send data back to the source for analysis.
On the MJ SEO home page you can click on the “demo mode” link to get a feel for their reports. This is a detailed review of those reports.
There are eight report sections:

To get the most out of data, then you first need to have a specific reason of what you want data for. An example that I will use for this will be on ice cream recipies. The internet will allow you to search upon hundreds of food recipies, Google will be the best place for this.

The best thing for insturctional things such as food recipies could mean that Youtube is the best location for you. There are many professionals who regularly update their channels so that folks like you are able to access them and create the magic that they are able to.
For data on market research, you may want to use office programs such as Word processing software or spreadsheet tools. This will enable users to enter data that can be converted into a more user friendly form such as graphs and charts.
The conclusion of data use is all about what the data is for and what the purpose of it is. To get the most from data, you will have to find out what the most effective use for a user interface is and what will appropriate to meet the user requirements. This will usually comein the main form of already created content such as websites like YouTube.

Would like to enter into the contest with the following ideas that I hope you should find quite interesting:
1) Competitive Intelligence:
The idea is that with Majestic SEO you can roughly figure out how much money is being thrown into an SEO Link Building program by a number of competitors—a necessity particularly if you are just starting or falling behind against your competitors; essentially you can put a numerical value on competitors’ link building.
In organic link building, by analyzing the kinds of backlinks they are receiving through different marketing tactics (widgets, linkbait, etc.) you can calculate how much a competitor is spending in order to push out a number of written articles and linkbait ideas through how much it would cost your department or through various link building company services. By guestimating their external link building tactics, you can understand beyond just what works, but how much money will need to be involved to match or surpass their campaign.
Yet, this idea works far more brutally when used in highly competitive markets where artificial link building (paid links) are the norm. By knowing how much a competitor is paying for a specific PageRanked link, review, or other paid tactics, you can specifically come out to how much a competitor is spending each month for specific keyword phrases and with a timeline of how their budget has been increasing. Granted, some of this would be manual work in identifying what pages are doing the selling of links, but entirely possible in markets that are not “enterprise level.”
By doing this continually, you can also determine whether your own internal SEO spends are as effective or as creative as your competitors. If your company and a competitor recently launched a similar product, what is it that they have been doing to get more backlinks than you? It’s in these ways by understanding their link building budget, you can get a general idea of how profitable a keyword has to be to a certain extent in order to justify continual spending in order to push up a number of keyword positions. With that information known, you can then decide whether or not to either enter into that market (knowing your own profit range) or whether to push harder in SEO link building if the tactic is working well for them.
2) Academic:
Majestic SEO completes the missing puzzle of deciphering what you need with Google’s ranking algorithm. We know that Google’s algorithm primarily comes down to External Linking, with Internal Linking and properly placed Relevant Content mixed in. Academics could now generate a number of websites and how much each factor plays a part (or not) through econometrics.
The SEO world can already pull in PageRank data from Google, properly placed Relevant Content from their XML feeds, Internal Linking data from Google Webmaster Tools, Number of Links on a Page through SEOQuake or Web Developer, and with Majestic SEO for External Linking. By pulling in these disparate sources together, one can get a pretty good feel for just how much each factor plays a part with statistical significance.
Granted, this requires an immense amount of data, but not something that is impossible given that many of those in econometrics can (briefly) predict the stock market. Keep in mind that there are only 200 factors in Google’s algorithm, including potential interaction effects between those factors, the number of sites needed for keywords will not be too large of a factor to build if done properly. Furthermore, with each new algorithm change (assuming no factor additions), academics could then understand relatively quickly what changes took place and how each variable’s impact changed.
If Majestic SEO were to expand its system to include data compilation of internal linking, then those outside of the Academic world could figure out without having to spend an enormous amount of money just what it takes to rank above their competitor and for how much money. In fact, one could even do a fascinating real-world examples of the differences in ranking from position 1 through 10 and note the common deficiencies of SEO campaigns on Google, a true academic undertaking on unlocking Google’s algorithm!
3) Brand Reputation Analysis:
Want to know what people are saying about your brand across the Internet? Trying to figure out what products people think of when they talk about your brand? Want to avoid having to spend an inordinate amount of money for a brand reputation monitoring company? With Majestic SEO, you could build out a platform that utilizes Mentions with nearby keyword phrases.
By pulling in brand mentions and the closest 100 words in either direction, you can create a keyword cloud displaying whether people think of your brand positively or negatively and if there are any spikes occurring through the month by a recent news article. Wondering what products people usually mention or consider hot? With Majestic SEO’s mention, you can combine it’s features with a brand reputation management software solution to pull in the common keywords to see if you need to do more marketing on other product lines as people may not have heard of it.
Take it a step further and begin to compare your brand mentions and products against another competitor to see who has been doing a better job marketing and why that is the case. What is it that Competitor Y has been doing to highlight their brand and why is it doing as it is?
Therefore, without having to even spend money on consumer research tools, products, people, or agencies that can cost a ton of money, with just two tools Majestic SEO and a content scraping tool, a company can immediately run an analysis to see where a focus should be, whether they need to spruce up the brand, or if certain products are considered better than others.

Firstly as somebody new to the SEO idea, I would explain to those that KNOW NOTHING about an SEO exactly what it is, so they get the idea behind what we are showing.
I would then set up a specific BLOG for all the Information generated by the SEO with hyper links on the various posts straight to the relevant information.
I would set up Graphs & Charts as well as clear, Not TECHNOBABBLE Language for any body to understand what we are showing so that as many people as possible will see how effective the SEO Statistics are for their own website and how they can gain a better reputation
I’d also include a FAQ’s section as well as hints & tips sections on how t increase your presence for your website, so clienmts can get an overall picture of what is meant to happen.
In effect make it plain simple and easy to understand by explaining everything clearly!!

MajesticSEO allready has collected an impressive amount of Backlink and Link Data. I Think this Data could be used for more than only SEO purposes.
With Majestic SEO people can check the popularity and backling status of their websites and these of their competitors. But until now MajesticSEO is only focused on websites.
Why not making it possible to analyse the Popularity of a Product, Service or a Political Party with the help of Majestic ?
I Think this schould be possible by combining the existing Backlink Index with some new data collected by the Majestic crawlers.
As Example a Company bings out an new product called “X”, they want now to analyse how popular this is on the different Social Networks, Blogs, Forums and so on.
If the Majestic Crawlers not only filter out URLs but also check if the Name of the Product “X” is mentioned on the crawled Page it should be possible to create detailed Database on how often a Product is Discussed by the Web Community at a given time.
Combined this new Data with the existing Link Index of Majestic SEO you should be able to give a great overview how often people discuss on “X” at a specific social Network or comunnity. (Based on the Pagerank MajesticSEO creates for every URL the relevancy of every single Post on Topic “X” could be measured while providing the URL so it can be easily found for further analysis)
This data will proove valuable to Plan advertising campaigns on the Internet. As Example the company sees that their product is often discussed on socialnetwork Y but not on Z they now can start an targeted Advertising campaign on Z to raise their popularity there.
Such detailed Data wich is usable to analyse the Succes of marketing campaigns and the popularity of specific products and services among the Internet users might be very valuable for big comapnies.

Especially for me such Data might also become interesting for scientific purposes such as using such Data for sociological studies abouth the Internet cause it could help to get more detailed statistics abouth the usage of specific epressions wich might serve as an indicator for social, political and economical trends.
If it is possible to sell such Data and the tools to analyse it to Big Companies there could be much money made wich could serve as funding for further full Text searchengine plans.
Idea 2:
Just develop a Programm wich automaticaly finds the Domains with the greatest growth in high quality incoming Links during the last months. This would make it possible to automaticaly find interesting startups and companies before they even become popular by by the massmedia.
