This might be usefull for traders on the stock markets. Monitoring the success of online companies/Brands before the broad public becomes aware of it. Might give an adventage for some traders.
Has anybody allready checked if there are any correlations between the rise/fall of backlinks and the development of stock prices ?
November 10, 2013 at 10:45 amThis is most certainly one of the most intuitively obvious uses I think. Some businesses (Like Newspaper groups, TV channels etc) would probably have a much higher correlation between links and profits (though who knows whether stock prices bear any relation to profits in a world of speculation). I personally used this as a predictor in a special example, but I do feel that someone with a “stock market prediction machine” should be seriously looking at link data as a possible indicator. In the greater scheme of things, the data is available at scale at a modest price (certainly modest for speculators) and is a pretty robust data source as long as they don’t try and scrape the data and instead do it under contract.

For almost a decade lots of voices and opinions come to us that SEO pratices are over. But I think that as long as we have search engines and people who want to make money using them in certain way we will have SEO-like solutions to artificially boost a site in SERP 😉
