Wouldn’t you love to have a heart to heart with a Google Spam Fighter and get the inside track on what’s happening at Google?

Hmm… it might sound good, but would they really tell you the stuff you want to know? I don’t think so…

So how about something much more open and exciting?

A heart-to-heart with an ex-Google Spam Fighter – who now spends his every working hour consulting and helping companies overcome Google penalties? A man who has years of experience, practical knowledge and feels he has a mission to share and educate the rest of us.

Well, that’s what we’ve got lined up for our next #MajesticMemo (May 12th at 12 noon Eastern, 5:00 UK)

Our guest will be Kasper Szymanski of SearchBrothers.com – a company founded with another member of the Google Spam Team, Fili Wiese.

I interviewed Kasper last week to give you an idea of what he’ll be covering in this short video (6:43 mins)

Kasper is knowledgeable and open with a sharp eye on what’s happening with Google – and he’s ready to answer your questions!

So here’s what we’d like you to do:

  • Take some time to craft your most pressing question – we’ll broadcast the very best during our chat with the hashtag #MajesticMemo
  • Post your questions in the comments below or email kenm@Majestic.com
  • Share this post with your colleagues and encourage them to join in
  • Make a date in your diary – and be sure to be there!

Here’s the date again – #MajesticMemo, Tuesday, May 12th at 12 noon Eastern, 5pm UK.

Nicely done Ken. So my question for Kaspar… If links were removed as a signal, Could the results be any good?

Hi Dixon! Honestly, I do not see major Search engines dropping links altogether any time soon. After all, links are the bloodline of the Internet. It’s the way people navigate from the beginning of the web. And it’s still the way bots find new content. No fragmented social signals are in the position to fill that gap at the moment.

Dixon, I think Google already answered that question before. I seem to recall that they tried removing links as a search engine ranking factor, and the results were really, really bad. So they decided to keep links as a ranking factor.

Personally, I think the only potential for replacing links would be something on the "social’ side. Not necessarily making tweets, likes or +1s a ranking factor, but watching what people are actually engaged in and talking about. Time on site is also interesting, as well.

It’s true, Matt did say that before dropping out of the limelight, but search is an evolving beast. I also note that Yandex have said they are bringing back links as both a positive and negative ranking factor… so looks like they backed down too.

How might I view this next #MajesticMemo with Kasper Szymanski? I’m not sure where to go to watch it – thanks 🙂

Andy – there are different ways, but one easy way is to start refreshing this URL: https://twitter.com/search?f=realtime&q=%23majesticmemo&src=typd at the time. As people add comments or conversation, it should develop.
