Following last year’s migration of Majestic Monitor onto the main majestic.com site , we’ve now ported two of its popular (and free!) social review tools to majestic.com; Post Popularity and Social Explorer.
Post Popularity
Find out each month’s most linked-top Twitter/X post, with data all the way back to 2006.
Powered by Author Explorer, the new Post Popularity tool is a fun, free report that highlights the most reported on tweets, month-by-month since our records began back in 2006.
It demonstrates how social media output has shaped our news cycle. The interactive graph reports on the number of websites linking to individual posts, and highlights the ten most popular posts for any given month.
Like all discovery tools, Post Popularity is designed for you to dive straight in to the data. When you choose a month from the top graph, the table underneath will reveal the top linked-to Tweets for your chosen date.
For example, here is the top-linked post from May 2024, when @theroaringkitty hinted of their return to publishing after a three-year hiatus. The update was so significant that it ended up as the #7-most linked-to tweet of the whole year.
If you’d prefer to go further back in history, here’s the top post from February 2007, with 63 referring domains still pointing to this early Jack Dorsey tweet.
If you’re interested, you can click through any of the entries to see the exact Referring Domains that make up the total number.
Please note: As of launch, the ‘Popularity’ of each post is determined solely by the raw quantity of Referring Domains that point to that individual status update.
Social Explorer
Find the top ten Twitter / X accounts for each of our Topical Trust Flow categories.
Long-term readers of the Majestic blog may remember Social Explorer. Initially launched in 2015 as a summer intern project, the tool was moved to Majestic Monitor for a 2019 refresh, and now finds a long-term home on the full majestic.com site.
If you haven’t seen it before, Social Explorer organises the top one million Twitter / X accounts by Topical Trust Flow. You can easily check out the top ten handles in each of the top categories, with hundreds of topics available for examination. So, whether you are into Business / Real Estate, Arts / Literature, or maybe even Sports / Football, you can click one of the arcs in the chart to find the top accounts in your favourite niche.
And if you find an account that you like the look of, Social Explorer is fully integrated with Author Explorer, our unique way to discover topical influencers, authors and bloggers.
Here is the Author Explorer summary for the Miami Dolphins handle, chosen from the top ten list of Sports / Football accounts.
And when you find an account you like, you can use it as a seed to discover similar profiles. Here is a list of accounts that are most often linked-to near links to the Miami Dolphins tweets.
Wrapping Up
Post Popularity and Social Explorer are free to use. Majestic Pro customers can use Author Explorer as part of their existing subscription.
